Sacred Traditions And Rituals a call to connection

Since 1997, Sacred Traditions And Rituals has been gathering as an inclusive worshipping community. As a ministry of community, S.T.A.R. reaches out by calling to connection all who seek the Holy and the Sacred through the wisdom of other faith traditions while celebrating their own faith and spirituality.
Led by an ordained member of the clergy, members are encouraged to participate in the leadership of rituals influenced by Creation Spirituality — including music, art, dance, drama, prayerful contemplation, poetry, and prose.
As a caring and compassionate community, S.T.A.R. participates in service and mission efforts and addresses environmental concerns — in the local and broader community. A large share of each month’s offering is designated for outreach, particularly the Sack-Gift-Collection, items given for special community projects.
Hosted by Central United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Sacred Traditions And Rituals welcomes everyone, regardless of faith background, spiritual preference, or involvement in another denomination.

Sacred Traditions And Rituals
a service devoted to being both shepherd and sheep
Sunday, March 14, 6:00 PM
Fellowship Hall
Sometimes we are the Shepherd.
Sometimes we are the Sheep.
"How" you ask, can this be? Since most of us will never be shepherds in the literal sense, and certainly aren't sheep!
. . . Or, are we?
By substituting the word 'steward,' we might gain a more contemporary understanding of the flexibility of these images. As stewards, we are 'part and parcel' of the intricacies of nature - one of God's many creatures - all incarnated in the likeness of, being cared about and cared for by our Creator. And, as stewards, we are also entrusted to lead, guide, nurture and preserve God's wonderful creation . . . tending to the weakest, the most vulnerable
. . . as guardians of the earth and all inhabitants for future generations.
You may attend any of these services service using Zoom.

![]() Our prayerful Meditation and Contemplation, created and offered by Gail McCormick and Trish Tolstedt, will consider the flexibility and fluidity of being good stewards - however we recognize the image . . . as shepherd of sheep.
Gail is a member of the S.T.A.R. Elder Council and serves as Corresponding Secretary and Tea Server Coordinator. A portion of the offering collected has been designated for Greater Spartanburg Ministries - honoring Gail and Trish for sharing their Creative Energy with us. |
