Each year during Christmas break, volunteers work to make homes in Spartanburg safe, dry, accessible, and warm. Some of our past projects include building ramps, repairing roofs, fixing flooring, and repairing ceilings. Santahatchie Christmas Service is a way to put our faith into action during the holiday season.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Santahatchie 2019 a success! Nearly 80 volunteers working on 8 different sites were able to make a positive difference in our community.
Please see below for an update on Santahatchie 2020. Santahatchie Christmas Service 2021 dates are to be announced at a later time. It will take place Central UMC in downtown Spartanburg. Registration information is generally posted in October.
Contact Mary Burgess Harrelson or Paige with any questions.

Santahatchie 2020 Update
As we are nearing the holiday season, you have probably noticed a lack of Santahatchie announcements. It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing cancelation of this year’s events. With cases of Covid-19 still rampant, we cannot in good conscience host almost 100 participants for your sake as well as for that of the homeowners. While we are taking a pause this year, we hope to see you next year where we can all fellowship together and be the hands and feet of Christ once again.
There is one way you can still participate from afar. I encourage you to consider donating your $30 registration fee to our partner, Christmas In Action. Christmas In Action has provided funds for site materials, vetted homes, and offered a framework to allow us to humbly serve 27 homes these past 6 years. While we are pausing the mission this year as a Santahatchie Family, Christmas In Action is still fighting to keep our neighbors in the Spartanburg community safe and dry. Please consider donating at: http://www.ciaspartanburg.org/take-action.
While I wish I was writing to you all under different circumstances, I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for your participation over the years. Whether in prayer, in leadership, in preparing meals, in working on site, or any other means, this mission could not continue without you. I do feel as if there is something missing in my heart this year, but I rejoice in knowing we will work alongside one another in the years to come. I pray for health and safety for you and your loved ones.
Looking forward to next year,
Mary Burgess Harrelson
