Worship

We invite you to worship with us!

Worship is one of the highlights of ministry at Central UMC. You may join us on Sundays at 11:00am, in person in the sanctuary or live on YouTube.  Whether the choir is singing, handbells are playing, or there is an organ solo, inspiring classical music and worship is a part of who we are. Our traditional service includes hymns, prayers and the Lord's Prayer, children's message, offering, anthem, creed, Scripture lessons, and sermon.

Where can I park?
There are several parking options: Central's parking lot on North Church Street; the St. John Street Parking Garage, which connects to the church driveway and portico entry; and parking lots on North Church Street, across from Central.

How do I get to the sanctuary?
Our friendly greeters are at three primary entries from 10:40-11:10am to welcome you and direct you to the sanctuary (and children's nursery). Those entries include 1) the church doors on North Church Street and 2) the fountain courtyard entrance into the main building from the North Church Street parking lot. 3) From the parking garage, enter the Education Building through the portico and go down the hall to get to the main building entry through the fountain courtyard. A handicap-accessible entrance is available through the courtyard and following the sidewalk through the playground area.

Are children welcome in worship? Is there a nursery?
Yes! You'll find children's worship activity bags inside the sanctuary doors. There is also a children's message during the service. Following this time, parents/guardians may take preschoolers to the nursery, Room 109, Education Building. Elementary-age children are encouraged to stay and participate in worship, as we encourage parents/guardians to share the worship experience with their children and our congregation.

For babies and very young children, nursery care is available in the Education Building, Room 109, during the Sunday school and worship hours. Jennifer "Scotti" Killian and a church volunteer provide a warm, loving, and safe environment  for our children, while teaching them about God's love. Our children's staff and volunteers have had background checks and received Safe Sanctuaries training.
